Aunt Irene's Frosting |
"Luscious, creamy frosting that does not taste too candy. This frosting is delicious on any cake, but I mainly adore it on coconut cake, sprinkled generously with coconut among layers and on pinnacle of cake."
Ingredients :
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 (.25 ounce) bundle unflavored gelatin
- three eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream

- In a medium sized saucepan, stir the sugar, flour, cornstarch and gelatin collectively. Add the eggs and beat until easy. Beat within the milk. Cook over medium warmth, stirring sometimes till thickened, about three to 5 mins. Stir inside the butter and the vanilla. Let cool and relax till bloodless.
- Once bloodless, beat till easy and fluffy.
- Whip the cream into smooth peaks and fold it into the frosting. Makes sufficient to frost one 8 or 9 inch layer cake.
