Apple Crumble Tart

"A tremendous dessert for the holiday buffet."

Ingredients :

  • half (17.5 ounce) bundle frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 3 apple - peeled, cored, and chopped
  • three/eight cup all-reason flour
  • three/eight cup chopped blanched almonds
  • half of cup white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon floor cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter, chilled
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • three egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/three cup dry Marsala wine

Instructions :

  • Preheat oven to 350 levels F (175 levels C).
  • In a small bowl, blend flour, almonds, half cup sugar, and cinnamon together. Add chilled butter and vanilla extract. Cut together with a pastry blender until small crumbs form. Set aside.
  • Unfold pastry and cut into a ten-inch circle. Place on a huge, ungreased baking sheet. Brush with melted butter. Arrange apples in the middle of the pastry, leaving a half of inch wide border of pastry. Spoon almond topping lightly over the apples, being cautious it would not spill over the edges of the pastry.
  • Bake in preheated oven until the pastry is golden brown, about half-hour.
  • To make the sabayon, whisk egg yolks and 3 tablespoons sugar in a heatproof bowl or the pinnacle of a double boiler. Heat over simmering water, beating combination constantly with a hand held electric mixer. When foamy, add the marsala; continue to overcome until the aggregate begins to thicken. Do not overcook, or the combination will curdle. Remove from warmth. Serve heat over the apple tart.

Notes :

  • You can use Madeira, Marsala, or sherry for the wine.
