Chocolate Date Cake I |
"My mothers' recipe. Great for snacking--or you could frost it, for a unique occasion cake. One of my own family's favorites."
Ingredients :
- 1 cup dates, pitted and chopped
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 3/four cups all-reason flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/four teaspoon salt
- three teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- half cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided

- In a small bowl, integrate dates with boiling water. Set aside to cool.
- Pre heat oven to 350 levels F (a hundred seventy five tiers C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.
- In a medium bowl, blend flour, soda, salt and cocoa. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until mild and fluffy. Add eggs. Add flour combination alternating with cooled date mixture. Fold in chopped nuts and half of cup of the chocolate chips to aggregate.
- Spread batter into organized pan. Sprinkle last half of cup of chocolate chips over pinnacle.
- Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out smooth.
